Who doesn’t love a good deal? What about paying one price for unlimited beverages for your entire stay at a Disney Resort with Disney refillable mugs?
Each Time we visit Disney World, I complete a thorough price comparison to determine if Disney refillable mugs are worth the money. Now, I’m sharing all the details with you so that you can determine if buying refillable resort mugs are worth it for your family in 2023.
What Are Refillable Resort Mugs?
A refillable resort mug is a RFID activated cup that is available for purchase at every resort on Disney World property. Once purchased it can be refilled as many times as you would like with the beverage of your choice.
While styles may vary, there are always multiple lid colors available so that you can clearly keep up with “who’s mug is who’s” in your party.
You may use the mugs at any Disney resort for the length of your stay, regardless of where you are staying. You cannot, however, use them at any locations in the parks or Disney Springs.
What Beverages Are Included?
Think non alcoholic fountain beverages. While they can vary by resort, all fountain sodas, coffee, and tea are included.
What is not included is milk, juice, lattes, smoothies, etc.
How Much Do Disney Refillable Mugs Cost?
Right now as of January 2023 a refillable resort mug costs $21.99. This means that to break even you would need to purchase $21.99 of beverages to break even.
Currently the price of a fountain soda (Coca-Cola products) is $4.29, iced coffee is $4.29, and hot beverages are $3.49.
To break this down you would need to purchase more than 5 fountain beverages, or more than 6 hot beverages to break even.
Let’s Talk Real Numbers
For our family of 5 this is a $109.95 purchase, so it is something that is definitely worth a little bit of research before jumping in to purchase.
Now let’s go through several scenarios to determine if Disney refillable mugs is right for you. Below you will find length of stays and how many times you would have to refill each day to financially benefit from purchasing a refillable mug, assuming you have one hot beverage per day and the rest are fountain drinks or iced tea/coffee.
Length of Stay:
1 night/ 2 days: 3 refills per day
2 nights/ 3 days: 2 refills per day
3 nights/ 4 days: 1 to 2 refills per day
4 nights/ 5 days: 1 to 2 refills per day
5 nights/ 6 days or longer stay: 1 refills per day
As you can see with a longer stay Disney refillable mugs become a big cost saver. If your family will be visiting the hotel quick service 1 to 2 times per day you will defiantly save money.
For a shorter stay however, you will need to think about how much you will really use the mug. It is only a good value if you would already be purchasing the beverages, not if you are refilling it more often just to get more value from your purchase.

How do I know if a Disney Refillable Mug is Right for Me?
Think about how you normally eat out. Do you usually get a fountain beverage, tea or coffee? Are you more of a water person? If you are you are in luck. ALL Disney quick service restaurants serve free cups of ice water. If this is your usual go to, maybe think about taking advantage of free beverages and saving the money for something else…..like delicious Disney cupcakes?
Also you can choose to buy Disney Refillable mugs for only those in your party that will use them frequently. On a recent trip we were visiting during a cold snap so I grabbed one just for coffee and tea. The rest of the family just enjoyed grabbing the occasional beverage as needed.
