There are so many on site hotels at Disney World, but a favorite of myself and my kids would be Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. I wanted to share with you why I love this resort and help you decide if it is right for your family.
What is Art of Animation Resort?
Art of Animation is a Disney resort that is themed to classic animated movies. It features The Little Mermaid, Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King. It is a rather large resort consisting of 10 buildings and 3 pools. This property is what Disney considers a “Value Resort” so pricing is on the lower tier of on property resorts, however, the family suites can be quite pricey when no discount is offered. *Pro tip- These suites are almost always included in discounts.
The Pools
There are three pools and they are all exquisitely themed. As it is a “value” resort there is no water slide or hot tub, but here they are never missed. Kids are living out their dreams swimming at the Cozy Cone Hotel or splashing around while a 3 story Ariel looks on.
And the feature pool the Big Blue Pool is one of the best on property. Not only are there underwater speakers, but you can splash around with Nemo and friends at the splash pad.
Room Choices
What makes this property unique is that the majority hotel consists of family suites. You can choose to stay in a standard hotel room in one of The Little Mermaid buildings or a 1 bedroom suite.
The suites cater to families of up to six with a private bedroom, and a living and dining area that each contain an additional bed that can be pulled down at night. While more expensive than other “Moderate” hotel rooms, these provide a lot more space and 2 bathrooms. As a mom of three, I know that as the years go on and my kids grow older, this will become even more important to my family of 5
Transportation
While this property is not not walking distance to any parks, it is a winner when it comes to transportation.
First off it is connected to Disney’s Skyliner, which is a gondola system that connects a select number of hotels with Hollywood Studios and Epcot. This is not only convenient, but so much fun. You can also use it to visit other resorts which expands the amount of easy dining options outside of the parks. It is honestly an attraction to itself.
The Music
Ok. One thing to know about me is I absolutely love that wherever you are at Disney World there is the perfect music loop playing in the background. In fact they bring me so much joy that I listen to them often at home between trips. This one is just so perfect. It is a mix of music from the animated films featured at the resort and is the perfect sing along for the whole family.
I dare you to listen to Hakuna Matata and not at least hum along… hard right? It just puts you in the spirit of Disney Parks and becoming a kid again before you even leave the resort.
Overall, this resort just feels like Disney to me. And although we love staying at Disney’s amazing Deluxe Resorts that are full of amenities, my kids still keep asking to go back to Art of Animation Resort. And you know what? That is ok with me. A great value, with major Disney fun, will always be a winner with me!
